BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT

Women’s inequality in the labour sector has been an unsolved problem for generations. However, if women find the right support at the right time, it provides excellent results. Likewise, the overall aim of this project was to increase women's employability and support women's entrepreneurship by strengthening women's vocational and entrepreneurial skills. We aimed to facilitate a sustainable vocational education, entrepreneurship, and employment mechanism in the ready-made garment (RMG) sector, including women who are unemployed, lacking in labour, working at home, or working seasonally.

CONCRETE RESULTS AND OUTPUTS

• Employability and entrepreneurship capacity of women was strengthened. • Awareness about women’s participation in the labour force was increased and a web-based training and communication platform was established. • A useful apparel business network has been established to develop the local capacity of the apparel industry and to increase knowledge about RMG-based initiatives.
