BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT

It is essential to modernize customs legislation and practices in line with the EU standards for proper and effective implementation of the Union Customs Code. In this context, the purpose of the project was to improve the administrative capacity of the Turkish Customs Administration, raise awareness and increase the level of ability among key stakeholders to enhance border enforcement of IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) within the implementation of the Union Customs Code.

CONCRETE RESULTS AND OUTPUTS

• The administrative capacity of the MoCT (Ministry of Customs and Trade) in the fight against counterfeiting and piracy was increased. • The level of awareness of the public; MoCT, relevant government institutions, NGO, and right holders about the importance of intellectual property customs measures and actions to fight against counterfeiting and piracy was increased. • The level of cooperation between different relevant government institutions and stakeholder was increased.
