BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT

Turkey’s negotiations in pursuit of full membership in the European Union (EU) place significant responsibilities on all sections of Turkish society. This fact means that Turkey needs individuals from all parts of society who can closely follow and contribute to EU-related issues. In this context, the specific purpose of the project was to facilitate the participation of Turkish professionals, students, academicians, and civil servants in the Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme by assisting the Ministry for EU Affairs in the management of the programme.

CONCRETE RESULTS AND OUTPUTS

Despite the announcement that 210 scholars would be covered under the programme in the 2015-2016 academic year, savings made in the general budget meant that 16 additional students were supported. In the academic year 2018-2019, a total of 180 scholars were selected and placed in EU member states. They filmed a new spot for TV in the style of a testimonial based on the true story of an ex-JMSP scholar. The shooting took place in Italy and Germany, in locations where scholars had studied under the JSMP, and showed both her academic and daily life while studying abroad.
