BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT

Despite the OECD’s assessment that Turkey has made significant progress since 2007 in its efforts to combat corruption, the issue continues to represent an obstacle to economic and social progress and, potentially, to greater integration with the EU. The overall objective of the project was to contribute to the fight against corruption in Turkey in accordance with European and other international standards.

CONCRETE RESULTS AND OUTPUTS

• Popularity of CEPS and its effectiveness increased, as well as the efficiency of its secretariat in preventing corruption. • Awareness and discussion of ethical issues among NGOs and public and private sector actors • increased. • Mechanisms established for continuous dialogue among NGOs and public and private sector • actors to raise their ethical standards and prevent corruption in society. • Levels of public awareness raised concerning ethical problems and the need to combat • corruption. • The advocacy and monitoring capacities of NGOs working in Turkey in the fields of ethics and • corruption strengthened.
